Visual Haiku 2

I’ve created a new haiku composed of photographs taken between 2009 and the present day, following on from my first experimental visual haiku in October 2024. These photographs were all shot in London and include texts from different sources that I’ve come across in day to day experiences ranging from graffiti, signage, pilates resistance bands and tattoos seen on the Underground.

The original inspiration is a Japanese poem often evoking nature and ephemera. The traditional format for a haiku is three lines containing 17 syllables (the first line has 5 syllables , line two 7 and line three 5). This haiku also functions as an image-based positive affirmation whilst conforming to the traditional haiku syllabic structure:

Don’t think it’s over

Help me help myself why not?

I am strong good enough
