I’ve always been attracted to exotic signs and designs on labels and other forms of advertising – for example my previous post on Icons and signs focusses on exotic femininity and “others”.
Here are some images I’ve taken recently. The first is of bottle of saké seen in London’s Soho. It is not label but is viewable through the glass bottle – the size of the image alters depending on your angle .
This photo was taken in New Orleans and features some retro icons of femininity in between more gruesome designs.
Here are a couple of examples of tins on display in the window at the Tincan pop-up restaurant in London’s Soho. The man with the odd moustache on the tuna tin (in ‘sentimental’oil) was begging to be photographed!
And here’s a tinned tomato woman wearing a crown of plum tomatoes, from Little Italy in New York
And finally here is one for any Latin percussionists out there – the paper lining in the bread basket at Larios in Miami featuring a bongo player in action!
