During the last couple of months I’ve noticed a recurrent theme emerge from some of the images I’ve photographed irrespective of whether they are landscape compositions or urban shots, and that is the sight of winter trees, the dark branches often bare and devoid of leaves. This blog features a selection of photographs shot in London, with an emphasis on reflected winter trees.
Starting with some abstracts:

The following illusionistic shots were taken locally to me in the Kentish Town, Tufnell Park and Dartmouth Park areas:

A couple of surreal shots featuring reflected trees:

Next a couple of more traditional landscape shots taken in Parliament Hill Fields and the Dartmouth Park areas:

Below, some new images from a series I call Persian Kentish Town, inspired by the rug shops on Highgate Road. In the first image, seasonal Xmas lights fuse with a reflected tree.

The following images were shot at London’s Kew Gardens on two separate occasions, the first of which was a wintry icy day:

It is now late February – despite the days getting longer the trees are still predominantly bare. The other day I was walking from Latimer Road underground station in West London and spotted the green heart honouring the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire which took place in 2017:

And today, the last day of February, vibrant splendour on Highgate Road:

Love these Mish and in particular Winter sunset with streetlamp. It looks like the cover for a gothic novel
